WPA Network launched its first league website in the fall of 2007 for the Northwest Conference, a 14 school multi-classification league located in Whatcom County, Washington
As career technology professional, sports fan, and the parent of two boys active in high school athletics, website developer Mark Martin saw the need for a single resource for leagues to publish athletic schedules, game results, and other league information.

While several resources existed, none of them had complete information, and none were straight from the source, making information fragmented and unreliable.  While exploring the viability of building a league website, Mark discovered that the Athletic Directors of the Northwest Conference understood the need for a single resource, but didn’t have the time or money to invest in building a website.

After spending several months studying the dilemma, a plan was developed and proposed to the Athletic Directors of the Northwest Conference in the spring of 2007.  The plan:  Provide free data management tools to the league that would allow the league to quickly and easily publish league information to the public via the World Wide Web.  Tools would be developed in cooperation with the league and funded by website sponsors.

NWCAthletics.com was launched in the fall of 2007 and by spring of 2008, the website had gained full support of the Northwest Conference Athletic Directors who were quickly learning the benefits of sharing their information via the Internet.

Word of mouth quickly spread from Northwest Conference Athletic Directors and by summer of 2008, Mark was already fielding calls from other leagues.  Mark worked closely with the Northwest Conference over the next year building a comprehensive suite of data management tools for Athletic Directors.  Those tools serve as the foundation for the technology used by twelve leagues and 125 schools currently using WPA Network websites.
